Founded in 2005 by the late DJ Vipen Kumar—fondly known as DJ VIPs—VIP Records emerged from Edinburgh to become one of the UK’s premier Bhangra and British Asian music labels. Their debut release, Party Time by DJ VIPs, became a cornerstone of UK Bhangra.

Over the years, VIP Records nurtured and promoted major artists like Tru Skool, JK, Gurj Sidhu, H‑Dhami, Manak‑E, EZU, and many others. Their 2016 breakout hit, Daru Badnaam by Kamal Kahlon & Param Singh, showcased their mainstream appeal and helped their YouTube channel rank among the Top 50 most popular in the UK.

DJ VIPs’ influence extended beyond music production—he championed local Scottish Bhangra talent and reshaped the UK Bhangra scene by broadcasting it to the world from Edinburgh’s vibrant cultural hub. Though he passed away in 2019, his legacy endures through the label’s enduring influence and the global fanbase it continues to inspire.
